Summary: What every young artist needs
Comment: Ed Emberley's books are great for all ages. I bought the Trucks and Trains book for my 4 year old grandson. It was an instant hit. The shapes are simple, instructions are easy to follow. It's a definite confidence builder for budding artists.

Summary: Awesome book
Comment: Ed Emberly's books are so great. If your child can follow visual directions and draw a line, circle and color in, then he or she can draw these things. My son is five and can draw these. He is quite smart and loves trains and trucks, so those are probably factors. When he isn't drawing from the book, he loves to look at it. Great for boys.

Summary: Well used
Comment: This book is well used in our house. My son received this book when he was 3. When he first got it we would try the drawings together. He is now 6 and still loves this book. He follows the steps by himself now and tries it on his own without the book. His sister is 4 and is beginning to draw on her own with the help of this book. We recently ordered the Drawing Book of Faces and Drawing Book of Animals. I am sure it will also be well used and loved in our house.

Summary: Not for a five year old
Comment: I bought this book for my five year old boy. Based on the description, it sounded age appropriate. However, it was a little advanced for him so we returned it. Maybe better for eight and up.

Summary: Incredibly simple to learn, no tears
Comment: Some art books can make kids cry in frustration with, "I don't get it, I can't do it". I have never had that problem with books from this artist, kids just love these! Ed Emberly has made some wonderful books for kids and grown-ups of any age that have no drawing skills, but want to learn a simple way. His books are the easiest books to get you started if you have no previous drawing skills. He doesn't talk down to you, he doesn't talk at all but uses his step by step method for you to follow. As a result, you can use these books for kids that have language issues. He starts with a step by step illustrated lesson to draw one simple item. First a simple straight line here, then insert a circle then, then another line, step by step along the way and before you know it you have a completed drawing that you can be really proud of. I teach Cub Scouts and this artist makes the perfect book for teaching a class when you are a volunteer yourself that is not an art pro.

In this book, he shows us how to make complete trains in drawings that when finishe, you will be shocked it came from your pencil. The drawing is simple, but looks complex when finished. Also see his book, "Make a World", and "The Big Green Drawing Book".

hese titles launch Little, Brown's major redesign of all 14 of Ed Emberley's classic drawing books. With brand-new covers and a new vertical trim size perfect for bookstore racks, these books are sure to attract new generations of fans.Using his simple 'alphabet' of a few letters and squiggles, Ed Emberley shows would-be artists how to draw a selection of terrifying weirdos, ghastly monsters, speedy trucks, trains, and other modes of transportation. Each book is packed with pictures that kids love and really want to draw.
