All the engines in the wooden track line are quality products and I highly recommend them. Customer Rating: Summary: Fergus Comment: It is a great toy and we experienced a very good service. The only thing was that we wanted a wooden Fergus and we got a metallic 'take along' Fergus. So they told us to keep that one and we ordered a wooden Fergus somewhere else. Customer Rating: Summary: No problems. Comment: We haven't had any problems with our "Fergus". We've had him for about a month now and no issues. Everything is still intact.
Customer Rating: Summary: Poorly made Comment: I don't know if the Thomas friends have gotten kind of cheap since the new company took over, but Fergus is not a well made toy. The first Fergus we had, the wheel broke off. The company was really good about replacing him, but the replacement came and within a week he too was broken, not only the wheel, but part of the wood had chipped off. The idea is kind of cool, the wheel turns the gear , turning another wheel. That is all plastic, including the axle for the middle gear. Maybe had that axle been metal, it would be more durable. I can't recommend this as a toy, only for the collector.
Fergus is a Traction Engine who shunts trucks at the Cement Works. He is a reliable, down-to-earth engine who believes in playing by the rules. Not surprisingly, he's resistant to change and can be irritated when other engines muck about. Fergus' flywheel rotates as his wheels roll.
