Customer Rating: Summary: Oil Depot Comment: I bought this for a friends little boy who loves it, and it makes a nice addition to his collection of Thomes building type things.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good! Comment: We just got this Sodor Oil Depot today and my son seems to really like it. The level on the side fills up or empties the oil. Then there is a red plastic gas nozzle (attached to a thick string) to fill up trains. It's pretty neat - especially for the price. It also includes a piece of straight track and a red oil tanker train.
Customer Rating: Summary: Oil Depot Disappoints Comment: The Thomas and Friends Sodor Oil Depot looked very promising at first glance. We were new to the Learning Curve line and decided to add this to our new Thomas collection. I have to say that this has been the most disappointing addition. First, the only interesting component to this piece is a small, thin plastic lever that rests flush against the front of the unit which makes the "oil" go up and down. There is a tiny nozzle attached to a string that the child is supposed to take and pretend to fill the accompanying oil tanker. My son lost interest in it, and prefers other buildings and destinations that are more manipulative. The oil depot just seems to sit there and waste space on his train table. The water tower is more interesting as it relates most of the Thomas stories and the water nozzle is meatier for small hands. Bottom line: No Big Deal. My recommendation: Get the water tower and if you can, put your money into another destination that has more interesting features. On a postive note, the oil depot seems to be durable and well crafted (but not interesting enough to keep).
